Last night I made cream of broccoli soup from scratch. It was scrumptious and seriously easy to do! I tried to take a picture on my phone to share with you guys but my SIM card on my phone failed! Nooooo. I’m seriously sad about it. I lost all my pictures it was storing. :(
Anyway, I took a picture with my camera and I’ll upload the picture and recipe tonight.
This morning I had oatmeal for breakfast, brought raw veggies for snack numero uno, have leftover porkroast for lunch, a minneola for snack numero dos and dinner will be tomato soup and leftover jerk chicken legs.
Tomorrow morning I’m hitting up a Griffith Park hike with my girl J.
It’s not just about what’s happening around you, it’s about what’s happening inside you. Yes, you can be greatly aware of events and situations but if you are not aware of how they are effecting you, you are not aware. You are observant.
Today after work I’ll be doing some at home weight training, abs, and a couple rounds of jump rope. My hips are a little tight from Sunday’s hike but it feels good to be sore.
This morning was supposed to be a run morning but Chippy’s knee has been bothering him and, truth be told, I’m too much of a scaredy-cat to go by myself in the dark morning hours. My neighboorhood isn’t that safe, yaknowwhaddImean?
Stretched before running this morning and boy-oh-boy did that make a difference. No breathing cramps! Whoo! My legs were strong and I banged out a little less than 2 miles without stopping even once! :D
Chippy and I talked and he’s committed to running with me on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. One evening per week I’ll do Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred, yoga or an at home workout (abs, jump rope, lunges, arms). On the weekend we will either do one long run or a day of hiking.
I’m feeling good about this plan!
Breakfast this morning was a fantastic protein shake with coconut milk, chocolate protein powder, peanut butter, banana, BCAAs and psyllium husk. Yum!!
I’m out of the house for 11 hours a day. 8 AM to 7 PM. Five days a week.
By the time I come home I’m a little grumpy, a lot hungry and just generally pooped. Typically I walk in the door, make dinner, eat dinner, clean up dinner and then oh-whatadaya-ya-know it’s 9 PM or 9:30 PM.
My neighborhood isn’t safe enough to run in at night and I’ve gotta be honest - im fucking tiiiiired by then. Way too tired to work out.
How the hell do you do it??
The new job means I’m working longer hours, which I’m grateful for, but I can NOT seem to get my shit together. Plus, with the sun going down earlier and earlier (nooooooooooooo) the likelihood of me doing those evening workouts dimishes even further.
I finished my brutal workout today! I know, I know, that shouldn’t be *completely* different but for me - this week - it is. I’m proud of myself, too. :)
I pushed hard on those uphill sprints. My hamstrings gave me some trouble when I first started out but that died away fairly quickly. My lungs, however, burned like a fire I’ve never felt before. It. Was. Unreal. I did my very best to push through it, though, and at the end of the day that’s all I can do: my very best.
Post workout I had a fantastic protein shake with Trader Joe’s brand coconut milk. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I actually drank a glass of it last night for a 90 calorie dessert. Deeeelish!
The rest of today will be spent with my friends, a baby (who I melt in the presence of), beer (none for said baby), and some grubbin. Grilled veggies are in store for me but I otherwise don’t know the menu.
I’ll take pics if it’s pretty. Pinky promise!
(see, doing better at updating, just like I said I would.)
