Adjusting
The new job means absolutely no free time to spend on Tumblr whatsoever. Forever. While that sort of makes me sad, I’m really excited for this change in my life. I needed to feel challenged at work, pushed… Ya know? Yesterday got the better of me. It’s my first week so I’m trying to take it easy on myself. I didn’t get home until almost 7pm. I watered the...

20 seconds
My 8:13 mile pace is within 20 seconds of my best 1 mile time ever from high school. Not too shabby for a 29 year old, eh? I bet I’ll beat it soon. ;)

First day
Got home from my first day on the new job and the last thing I wanted to do was run. So, of course, I made it the first thing I did. I needed the stress release. (First days are HARD! So many new names, faces, programs, rules and procedures).   Now I sit outside in the hot, still air with sweat dripping behind my knees and down the sides of my face and neck - proud of myself. Remember that...

What a day!
Tomorrow my absolute last day at my current job and man oh man was I overworked today.  Bosses: “Do this.” “This is a priority so do this first.” “Did you get to this yet?” “Do this thing now.” “Will the new girl know where to find ____.” Tooooo much. I am worn out so I’m finally packing up and scooting on home. Chippy and I have...

4 Mile Brisk Walk
Not bad for my “cross training” day, eh? Per good ole Hal Higdon, a cross training day is defined by “Cross-Training: On the schedule, this is identified simply as “cross.” What form of cross-training works best for runners preparing for a 10-K race? It could be swimming, or cycling, walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or other forms of aerobic training ,or...

Now that I'm training for a race
I want Runner’s World magazine. For tips and tricks and, ya know, to read about cool things that I don’t even know exist.  Who am I ?????

2.5 miles - done!
My first 2.5 mile run is in the books! Thanks to all the responses this morning, I decided to go with the MapMyRun application for my android phone to track my time and distance. I pre-planned my course online and then executed it in person. :)  My main focus today was simply to run 2.5 miles without stopping. I didn’t care if I went fast; I didn’t care if I went slow, so long as I...

The Day I Stopping Finding Excuses Not to Work Out...
My plan for today was to be done with work around 4pm, go home, knock out my 2.5 mile run, then do a few more miles walking with my girl, J.  Unfortunately, I’m stuck working later than expected tonight. It’s my last week here so I understand that the bosses need me to finish up some projects before I bounce over to the new job. Instead of flaking on my run, which has been the course...

Starting Weight
Before my post-workout shower I had the urge to hop on the scale. I figured it couldn’t hurt to know my starting stats before starting my 10k training. I haven’t been on the scale in weeks. Maybe a month, even. Last time I did was on July 13th and I was feeling pretty confident in my ability to maintain. I weighed in at 130.4 lbs. Shortly thereafter I pretty much stopped working out...

I don't care how much power, brilliance or energy...
Damn right. I’ve got a new course of action beginning. I’m fully focused. I’ve printed out my training schedule and I’m beginning 10K training today. No more “I’ll start tomorrow” nonsense. I’m starting today.

Where'd my motivation go? Oh, wait... THERE it is!
I’ve been struggling, guys. It’s been a few weeks of slacking, on my part. Sure, I kicked ass on an almost 11 mile hike in Yosemite last weekend but other than that I haven’t been working out regularly… or much at all, if I’m being completely honest. I’ve been eating. And eating. And eating. Oh, and maybe a little drinking has been happening, too. I...

So much
I have so much to say today. My mind is racing…. And is full of half written sentences and mostly formed ideas. …motivation, inspiration and goals. So much to say!! Man, I wish I wasn’t stopped at a red light and instead was sitting at my desk so I could write it all out. Stay tuned…. Xxx, M

Lunges
Lunges can be done anywhere.  At home. In the office. On the sidewalk. In the car.  … wait, not in the car.  Let me rephrase: lunges can be done almost anywhere. So I’m going to start doing them more often. Daily, even.  Oh, I have to get up from my desk? 5 lunges on each side.  Oh, I have to walk to the kitchen to get a glass of water? No, I’m going to lunge my way to...

NSV!
Yesterday I was having quite the “I feel bloated, oh so bloated, I feel bloated and puffy and grosssss” day (sung to the tune of “I feel pretty”). No big deal - it happens occassionally during Shark Week. I threw on a billowy blouse and a pair of bootcut jeans (I know, soooo 10 seasons ago) and went on my merry way. In the afternoon I saw someone I hadn’t seen in...

Banana creme pie. Chocolate. Cheese. Rocky road ice cream. More Cheese. Hello Shark Week, is that you? Of course it is! Your mad crazy cravings gave you away! Instead I’ll have tri-tip and oven roasted cauliflower (my fav!) & an arugula salad. Not a bad craving substitute! :) Xxx, M

Love Dilemmas: Gratitude in Love →
Word for word: couldn’t have said it better myself. Great concept - and I’m proud to say Chippy and I already do this, for the most part. Perhaps doing it more often, though… :)  xxx,  M  lovedilemmas: Gratitude in Love During this whirlwind we call Life, it’s important to slow down and designate “Alone Together” time as my boyfriend and I call it. 15 Minutes of Exercise Per Day Adds Years to Life →
Taiwanese researchers examined more than 400,000 study participants in a 12-year period, where patients self-reported their weekly exercise regimen. The study, published in this week’s Lancet, found that people in the low-exercise group averaged 15 minutes of fitness per day. They reduced their risk of dying from cancer by 10 percent and had a three-year longer life expectancy than the...
