While training for an upcoming film, I’ve come to this conclusion: chin ups are near impossible and lunges suck. There is no magic wand to wave over oneself to look good in a latex catsuit. Eating healthy and getting fit is about commitment, determination, consistency and the dedication to self-preservation. While I’ve never been considered a gym rat, I have, in fact, worked up a sweat in the name of cardio before, and although I enjoy a grilled cheese as much as the next person, I combine the not-so-good foods I crave with an all-around balanced diet.
Had two different kinds of them yesterday (Tomato with mozzarella and smoked almond breadcrumbs & grilled fennel with dates, cilantro and pistachios). I’ll count them as one since I only ate a few bites of each.
And the second one is lunch today: shredded lettuce, chicken, corn, tomatoes, red onions and grilled bell peppers. Mmm!
I bought mine at The Bikini Shop. It was a pricey suit, I can’t lie, but it’s been in my summer wardrobe for almost 5 years now (which, when you break it down, ends up being around $20 a year for it - not too bad!).
I plan to get a second one this year; same brand of course!!
Taking a page from Sarah over at waiteloss, here are my goals for June.
Drink 100 oz of water/day
Eat at least 80 g of protein/day
Eat at least 5 salads/week
Eat fish at least 1x/week
Run 2 miles of sprints 2x/week with Chippy
Do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred or do my floor workout 3x/week
Take 2 rest days/week
Don’t get on the scale more than 1x/week
Continue to maintain a weight between 125 -130 lbs
Post one new recipe per week (with picture)
WIW once a week for accountability
Post Hydration Nudges on Tuesdays
Begin journaling again
Read one book/week (I finished The Sparrow while on vacation - a fantastic sci-fi that I highly recommend. I’m also ALWAYS taking book recommendations. At any time. For any reason. PLEASE GIVE ME ONE.)
Get alone time to think and reflect 1x a week. Be it in the form of a solo walk (without my phone), meditation or just sitting still for 20 minutes. I have a hard time not doing something. I’m a crazy multi-tasker which ends up getting a lot done but leaves me feeling very drained.
Sit through movie time with Chippy without checking Tumblr, FB or my text messages. I really need to work this month on “unplugging” during my down time.
Some of my closest friends had a baby this morning! I’m so happy I could burst!! This is such an amazing and exciting time for them. This is the first baby born to our group of friends … And certainly won’t be the last!
I can’t wait to meet him, hold him and snuggle him up!
I can't believe how close june 1st is!!!! But i'm so so excited to see everyone's changes (hopefully mine will have changed too!)I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for doing this and the hard work you've put in to motivating each and every single one of us :)
I know! SO CLOSE!
ONE MORE WEEK until the challenge ends!
I can’t wait to see everyone’s changes, too - it’s going to be fannnntastic!
Lastly, you’re totally welcome ♥. It has been my pleasure to have created a challenge that so many people felt drawn to. Truly!
2 words you need to remember when you go to Portland...Bunk Sandwiches. They have unbelievable sandwiches. Top notch, raise the bar, wanna go back everyday type stuff.
Pok Pok is great if you like Thai food. It's sooooo good.
If you love good meat and good food go to Otto's Sausage. You can taste the quality. It's awesome.
VooDoo Doughnuts is really weird but their bacon maple bar, when fresh, is the best doughnut you will ever eat.
A place that has good food and a great burger is Toro Bravo. Your tongue, taste buds, and stomach will all be singing harmony's together.
You HAVE to go to Powell's. It the most amazing book store you will ever go to. It's an event in itself. We live in a time where people don't like to read but I constantly tell them to visit Powell's. The place is unbelievable.
I hope you have a great time up there. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.
You are my total hero right now! :)
VooDoo Doughnuts and Powell’s were both already on the list of “to-dos” (total bookworm here!) and Bunk Sandwiches as well as Otto’s Sausages sound right up my alley!
Thank you for these amazing suggestions! I just had to share them with everyone in case anyone else is heading up to Portland in the coming months!
PS I’m starving right now from my workout this morning. 30 more minutes until I can enjoy a scallop, langistino, and periwinkle Manhattan style chowder with fresh fennel. OMG. 30 minutes.
June 1st is quickly approaching! Only 8 days left! Let’s make these last 8 days really count, eh? How about pushing for one extra unplanned workout in there? Or one extra homemade healthy and balanced meal? You can do it and your body will thank you!
For me, the challenge ends tomorrow. Why? Because I’m heading out for vacation to Portland (!!!) early Thursday morning and will be gone until Monday. There will be much beer and food. Much. Expect food porn! :)
For you, the challenge ends June 1, though I’ll be opening my submission box right now in case any of you want to get an early submission in.
1. Just as before, four pictures are required. Front, side, side, back. Each picture must be submitted individually - that’s how Tumblr’s submissions are set up.
2. Ideally, you will be wearing the same bathing suit as in the original submission unless you have lost so many inches that it no longer fits (in which case - you are a TOTAL and COMPLETE rockstar in my eyes!!!)
3. You must include a link to your blog with your pictures and please be sure to let me know if you changed your blog name since the challenge began. Include the old name and the new one - as all entries are saved on my computer under original submission blog names.
4. Lastly, how did you do on your goals? Please kindly critique yourself & write a little note or paragraph about what you learned on this journey & how your self esteem and self confidence has improved.
From there, I will do some cutting & pasting and deliver four side-by-side before and afters in a photoset for each person. This means I will be dedicating a lot of my time to make these before/afters AWESOME. That’s how much I love you guys for KICKIN ASS these last few months!!
Woke up at 6:00 AM and ran 2 miles of sprints with Chippy. Went hard. It felt fantastic. The air was cool and we saw a white heron in the LA River. Now I’m sitting here typing this & sweat is dripping down my face. I can dig it. ;)
